WINNIE TRUONG | ERIN STUMP PROJECTS
Winnie Truong pushes the boundary of line in her recent pencil-crayon drawings of hair. Currently on exhibit at ESP, “Invisible/Visible” demonstrates an understanding of the medium’s virtuosity and the subtlety of fleeting emotions. Through layered drawings of blue and red on translucent surfaces, Truong re-imagines her portraits as X-Rays. Her series demands an active participation by the viewer in order to reveal the internal images within the immediately observable subjects of each drawing. With viewing devices, the viewer can shift his or her focus from the visible to the invisible.
“Invisible/Visible” is on exhibit from November 22 to December 20, 2014 at Erin Stump Projects in Toronto.
