Rembrandt, Van Gogh and de Kooning’s work inform the paintings of Canada’s acclaimed artist, Harold Klunder. Indebt to his Dutch lineage, Klunder has forged a distinctive oeuvre of forms to express his commitment to the possibilities of paint to evoke states of being. His large-scale pieces of richly textured, complex and abstract forms immerse the viewer. To take in a Klunder painting is to become privy to the narrative of one painter’s enduring engagement with the profound history and unmistakable immediacy of the medium.

Harold Klunder’s exhibition, “Live by the Sun, Love by the Moon” is on exhibition at the Clint Roenisch Gallery from October 24 to December 20, 2014.
