3D PARTI | KEDD

KEDD 3D Parti

The King Street East Design District (KEDD) launched itself into the world of design and art festivals today. The 3d parti contemporary design festival hopes to lead Canada in contemporary art and design, and with the lineup of installations by top International and Toronto artists and designers, it is likely that KEDD will be successful.

A playful use of the architect’s ‘parti sketch’ – the festival’s underlying ‘big idea’ and ‘concept’ will feature in 3D the creative neighbourhood’s "own DNA and culture,” says Al Smith, president of the St. Lawrence Market BIA, which spearheaded the exhibition to get KEDD its own space within Old Town Toronto. For one day only, the festival transformed the streets and 15 storefront locations around the St. Lawrence Market.

Thrush Holmes KEDD

Toronto's own Thrush Holmes covered the walls at Klaus with his colourful and neon large-scale art pieces.

TYPOE KEDD

For the first time, the Miami artist TYPOE showcased his work in Canada at Bulthaup. TYPOE, along with members of the art collective Primary Flight transformed Miami's Wynford neighbourhood—a once downtrodden former garment district turned vibrant art centre—into an open air art gallery through graffiti murals.

The Design Agency chose to create a video installation, with internationally renowned photography duo Saty+Pratha, that fosters a stream of consciousness through mixed media. Two separated people form a dialogue of instantaneous vocalized words that occur as a reaction to hearing the other's predessing word.
