Geoffrey Plant-Richmond

Geoffrey Plant-Richmond is a self-taught contemporary painter who resides in Toronto, Ontario. His work, which exists in the mid-point between painting and sculpture, typically incorporates heavy texture and two-tone color schemes. He develops the heavily textured appearance by sculpting the paint by hand during an on-going drying period. Plant-Richmond's paintings create a viewing experience in which variety and complexity are discussed. Scale is an imperative aspect of the work, Geoff strives to create an atmosphere in which the art itself holds the power within the conversation. As a result, he tends to favour working with canvas sizes that are physically larger than the viewer. The majority of Plant-Richmond's work is created using heavy body acrylics on canvas.
